Dow Employees Compete in Jambalaya Cook-off for United Way

The Dow Louisiana Operations Annual United Way Jambalaya Cook-off was held in perfect springtime weather on April 22nd at the Dow Plantation Grounds in Plaquemine. This year's event was another outstanding success with almost 3,000 lunches sold with proceeds of $11,000 going to the Capital Area United Way.

A record 26 cooking teams participated in the highly contested event... and the Winners were: First Place - Henry Pullizano, Melvin Bihm and Alvin Lee; Second Place - Joe Nichols and Bobby Story; Third Place - Gary Tullier and Bobby Smitherman; Side Dish - Evans Barber and Bubbie Leblanc with their Glazed Chicken and Pork w/Raspberry Chipotle Sauce

The 1st Place Jambalaya winning team of Pullizano, Bihm and Lee received a double burner fish fryer donated by The Pierre Part Store. The team will represent Dow at the Capital Area U.W. Cook-off in July.

The celebrity judges for the cook-off included WAFB Chief Meteorologist Jay Grymes, B.R. Advocate Food Editor Tommy Simmons, Dutch Vicknair, owner of Dutch's Restaurant, WBR Parish President Peewee Berthelot and Iberville Parish President Mitchell Ourso.
