About St. Charles Operations

St. Charles Operations (SCO) is an integrated petrochemical manufacturing complex. At our site, more than 2,000 employees and contract employees work every day to safely and responsibly convert petroleum-based raw materials into a variety of basic building-block and intermediate chemicals.

Products made at SCO wind up in thousands of everyday household, business and consumer products, including plastics, paints and adhesives, shampoos, soaps, toothpaste, detergents and animal feed supplements.

SCO is owned by Union Carbide Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company. The complex consists of a 2,000-acre site just upriver from Hahnville, and a 40-acre site in Norco.
